Buying eyeglasses online

Hey guys,

I found a cool website called www.eyeglasses.com today and am considering buying some frames from them, but I first need to go back to my optometrist and get my "measurements" for sizing frames to my head. Have any of you used this vendor yet? The website is very nice and the prices aren't bad. It's that measurement thing that's the slowdown...I'll still need to take them to have my prescription put in them...I think.

I prefer to buy my glasses at a local dealer. I tried probably a dozen glasses until I found one that looked good and was comfortable. The same process via web - no thanks.

    Same advice than above.

I will add that when you buy glasses, even if you know the power of the glass (expressed in dioptria) you have to center the glasses correctly (the center of the glass must be at the center of your eyes) : this require the help of your local dealer. You can't mesure on the web the space between your two eyes correctly, and you can't mesure the center also in the other dimension.

    Yeah, no kidding.

If you can buy frames via the web, consider yourself a lucky person.

I saw on a show where they compared 3 options for frames and Lenses...

    A highend boutique.

    Lenscrafters.

    and an online company.

Lenscrafters was the only one that got the perscription and placement correct first time out.
