Did I make a mistake?

I have been reading several sites that have mentioned the idea of a G5 powerbook coming out in January. Last Thursday, I ordered a 15" powerbook and got the bigger, faster harddrive. This is a big investment for me and I am now worried that in January the G5 powerbook will come out and I will have wasted my money. The other thing that stinks is that it says on my status that it will ship on or before Dec. 16. I am wishing I would get it sooner. Give me your opinion(s). I took the jump and now I am worried that I have fallen flat on my face.

    gah sorry bro...

I'll tell you what happened to me. I spent 3000 last december for the last Ti with superdrive, only for a week later for the new Al ones to come out! but personally dude I still love my Ti to death, and I seriously doubt that if they did come out it'd be this january. Even if you do, the one you bought will be a kick ass machine, and it will still probably be cheaper than a g5 Powerbook as the price increase will be pretty steep. My bets anyway for a g5 powerbook will be this coming summer. Best of luck to you, think of it this way, your powerbook purchase was the omen to apple to finally release a g5 powerbook so that everyone could be happy. you are a martyr to the mac cause.

you didn't make a mistake because the 15" aluminum(now that they have worked out the kinks) is a kick ass machine!

besides, I really don't think we're going to see g5 powerbooks in jan.

You made a good choice and it should serve you well for years to come. You're gonna love it. There will always be newer faster hardware coming out. That shouldn't make you less happy with what you have.

I know what you mean though. I've suffered from the syndrome for years and am finally getting over it. Fact of the matter is, new hardware next year will hardly do a better job than what's available this year, unless you really push it to its limits. 95% of us don't.
