Project Looking Glass
It's been a while since I've posted to this forum, but I've come across a article that nobody had posted a thread about and I thought I'd start one.
The Project Looking Glass is a Sun Microsystems project that involves using Java and open source to accomplish. To me it looks as if they've studied quite well what Apple has been developing with OS X and has expanded with the 3-D ideas. It looks really neat, but I'm not sure what it's use would be with the flipping around with the windows and such. You can't read the windows in the "angled" mode. You'll notice that it has a dock very similar to OS X and you can minimize the windows to it like OS X too.
All in all it's cool stuff, but how do they plan to bring it to the mainstream?
Here's the link to the demo:

It seems pretty bleh to me, at least what I remember seeing of it whenever I saw a thread about it on Ars a while back. The things they did in addition seemed more like eye candy without usefulness.
EDIT: looks like someone beat me to it.
It is with a heavy heart that I end this thread's short life.
Rest in peace, little guy. We hardly new ye.
