I've no idea why; seems to have happened overnight. I can open and close it, but other than that there are absolutely no signs of life. Any ideas?

Might have just died. My iBook CD drive just stopped working one day, like every other week it would mount a CD but once it slept it would stop working again for a week. I sent it in and Apple fixed it for me, even though it was already a year old (it was one of those Circuit City specials, a display model)
