unix comand to eject cd

can someone please type the unixcommand to eject discs?

    i'm not sure what the proper way to do it is, but if your cd drive is also a burner, and if you have cdrecord installed, you can do 'cdrecord -eject'.

    the problem was, I had to restard my powerbook in order to eject a cd-r. even the eject-key did not react. After the restart everything is OK again.

    You can also do it in open firmware mode. Restart your computer holding down apple, shift, O, and F than type eject CD. Than type reboot. Should do the trick if nothing else works.

    along the same lines, holding down the mouse button (or trackpad) will eject any media in your computer.

    For future reference..



    "df" This will list your current disks. Find out which is the CD-ROM and then type "hdiutil eject -force /dev/whatEverTheDiskIs"
