Apple Pro Speakers AND Soundsticks

Ok, I got a question for all you guys out in AI land. I'll be getting my new iMac soon and I was wondering, will I be able to use my Soundsticks AND Apple Pro Speakers at the same time or am I going to have to choose. I would really love it if I could use both, but I don't know if I'll be able to. Anyone know for sure?

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can use both together.

I think you have to pick your output source. SoundSticks or Pro Speakers or internal speakers...not more than one.

Pro speakers they input into an audio in

    soundsticks input through USB

so you have the 4 all connected at once

I know Os X supports surround, however I don't know if it would work as USB and audio in are different protocols....however OS X is a pretty buff os when it comes to using software to do hardware tasks, so It might work

the sound sticks are really powerful and good quality for being such small speakers, I hear the same things about the pro speakers, but I've never heard the pro speakers in action, only the soundsticks

In OS X I can't choose more than one set of speakers. I can't choose both the internal speaker and Soundsticks for example. And When I tried plugging two sets of USB speakers into a Cube, it only recognized one at a time.

You can use the iSub with your pro Speakers. They sound great together.

I though the iSub part of the soundsticks bundle could not be used separately?.... or are you talking about the $59 iSub? i dont think he has that model...

I think he's talking about the $59 iSub which is bigger and has a broader range (also more powerful) than the soundsticks. According to the tech specs the pro speakers plug into a digital audio out...not a headphone line out. the prospeakers plug in through the USB so they should work in conjunction. I just added the iSub. It was also a lot cheaper than spending the $199 the soundsticks cost. I'll tell you how they sound in when I get mine tomorrow. Gelding says they sound pretty good though.
