ichat av problem

Ok, so I have panther and a MDD 1ghz dual...



Starting this week ichat refuses to open. The triangle appears in the dock like its going to open, but then it just fades. I've repaired permissions, I've tried switching to my wife's account and opening it there. No luck. Any ideas folks?

    Well, after looking everywhere for an answer, i read the faq at the top of genius bar and tried the "delete cache" which required me to reboot as "they were in use" and sure enough ichat works again!

    Well, the problem is back not 12 hours later yet wiping the cache didn't work this time. What exactly is going on here?

    No error message, no anything, it just wont launch

    I had this problem once before. iChat refused to launch. It appeared to launch for a second but would die quietly. I removed all preferences and saw the assistant screen splash up for a brief instant before it died again. I even clean reinstalled to try to get things working. No dice.



    It was apparently a problem with the router I was connected to. That's the best explanation Apple could give. Resetting it got things working again. Strange.



    Try this. Go to your Network System Preferences. Set your connection to none. Apply and try launching iChat again. It the app launches but fails to connect, you've got the same problem that I had.

    Thanks a bunch. Once I turned off airport ichat launced but didnt connect. I set the airport back to on and it connected. Weirdoramma.
