How to Scroll Back a Bit More?

I thought I saw this mentioned somewhere on these forums, but I couldn't remember where and I couldn't find it when I looked for it.

In a finder window that has been opened in a level other than the root level, you can't scroll back further than what level it was opened in. Is there a way to scroll back in such a case? I often find myself wanting to go back ONE directory level but I can't, so I end up clicking on one of the shortcuts on the left and then going forward MULTIPLE levels to get to the same location.

Thanks,

If you right-click (or control-click) on the Finder toolbar you can customize it and add a control that will drop down the hierarchy of the current folder and jump to any containing folder.

I think that's what you're asking for, anyways.

I already knew about that and it's not quite what I'm looking for. I tried it out again and it works alright. When I use it, it reveals all the other levels which is nice. I guess it is sort of what I am looking for in that respect.

    Thanks,
