God, please tell me someone here saw Joe Namath hitting on Susie Kolber during tonight's Jets/Pats game!

He was very obviously sloshed-I'm talking perma-grin here. He kept saying he wanted to kiss her.

She handled it like a total pro, asking him about the Jets current problems:

I'm paraphrasing because I was dying the whole time-"We don't care a hoot about the Jets current problems, I want to kiss you!"

If you know his voice it's so much funnier-he's a graying ex-jock giving an Austin Powers-like rap without the British accent.

Ah, it's great to be easily amused!

Jeff

Theisman is an ass of epic proportions.

Upon deciding he wanted to divorce his wife, instead of being a man and telling her, he had his accountant call her and let her know.

follow up: I was at a restaurant for dinner tonight and people were talking about what a goof Theisman was last night.

    OMG!

I missed it, but, more importantly, I didn't realize that there were NFL games being played today!

Damn, I hate missing any football!

Yah, but it takes balls to wear a fur coat on the sidelines!

    That was Joe Namath.

Yeah, he was before my time, but all indications are that for better or worse he was the first player in the TV era who was a playa, too.

Going back even further there are legends about Bobby Lane throwing 4 touchdowns while hungover with no sleep.

I can't speak to Namath being overrated, but his numbers don't jump out at you as elite.

I've always got a kick out of him, though. He's just such a laid-back mack daddy.

Being from down under, I never got to see Namath play... but his cameo on The Simpsons should be an inspiration to every jock who is at a loss to do something with themselves when their career enters the twilight years...

Why is everyone talking about Namath, when Theisman is the idiot that was hitting on Suzy Kolber on Saturday Night Football!?

Ah, I realize the original post in this thread said "Namath" instead of "Theisman."...

LOL. Helps to get the title right, generally. Was it Namath or wasn't it? I don't watch football much during hockey season so I wouldn't know....

Let me see if I can bail this one out with an unofficial poll:

Who was more overrated as an athlete: Joe Namath or Jim Palmer?

I saw it. 'Twas funny. Kolber handled it really well. I actually like Kolber despite the occasional bout of over-acting. Hanging around Jaworski too much I suppose. She certainly handles herself better and knows more than most of the other wannabe characters at ESPN.

PS: the incident (all 3 seconds of it) were with Namath on the sidelines. He always sounds sloshed to me, so it's hard to say what influenced him.

It was Namath. It was not Theisman.

Yeah, it was Namath who was hitting on Suzy... I went off on Theisman and confused everyone, myself notwithstanding!

    My mistake.
