ipod and external drive

Hi,



Would it be or is it possible for the ipod to access and play files from an attached external firewire drive?



It would be pretty cool to have a 120GB firewire drive sitting in the stereo cabinet, plug the ipod into both the drive and stereo - instant library.



Sorry if this has been discussed before.

    It's hard enough to browse a 5 gb collection of MP3s on that little iPod screen. Imagine trying to navigate a collection 24 times that size!



    And no, the iPod OS won't recognize an external firewire device plugged into it.
