Disappearing menu bar icons

i'm using pb17 with 10.3.2 and have 5 icons on the menu bar, including airport, sound, display, konfab, battery. i notice that whenever i reboot most of these icons disppear. during my last reboot only konfab, sound and battery remained intact on the bar. sometimes bluetooth icon pops up, i never use bluetooth so i disabled it but it turned itself on and icon appeared on the bar. how can i correct this? a bug in the system? i hate going to preference and putting the icons back at every reboot. thanks
