Seems like a good deal to me, and that was before I read this.

Damn straight. If you're 100% sure it's legit, that is a hell of a deal.

Take advantage of the seller's stupidity. He'd make WAY more than that on eBay.

Well the guy is local and he doesnt want to deal with eBay. My only concern about the system is that I heard that model was really noisy....

Nah. Your thinking of the later MDD model (which never had a DP800 config). Those were noisy. The QuickSilver models were not too loud at all.

That's wading into "too good to be true" territory. Just don't get taken.

Sell the GeForce 3 to a desperate, rich Cube owner on eBay for $300+. Buy a better Radeon 8500 for under $150, or a better still GeForce 4 Titanium for about $250-$300 (if you can find one).

Whats so special about the GeForce 3? One of a few cards that will fit into a cube?

It happens to be the fastest card that will fit into the Cube without any modifications. The other ones are the Radeon 7500, GeForce 2MX, and Radeon Mac Edition. The thing about the GeForce 3 (and the Radeon 7500) is that the Mac versions were available only as OEM cards - you could never go to ati.com and actually buy one, you would have to get one with a PowerMac. The GeForce 3 was BTO on the Digital Audio and Quicksilver PowerMacs, while the Radeon 7500 was standard equipment on the 800 MHz Quicksilver 2002 PowerMac.

Also, $300 is a conservative estimate of the value. Here's an example: eBay.

Luca, are you saying I could rip out my 2MX card out of my DA Tower and throw it in my cube? With no modifications?

Most likely. Try it. Although I'd suggest that you carefully remove the card rather than "ripping it out," and that you install it in the Cube rather than "throwing it in." I know what you mean though
