a serious re-working of the forums needs to take place. apparently the current hardware section is not for advice or help with current hardware. what are we supposed to tlak about in there then??!?! get rid of the genius bar, and people will ask their questions in the appropriate categories. also, general discussion should be changed to "purchasing advice" or something like that, so people know the difference between the outsider and general discussion. thats all for now i guess....

The rest of us here seem to be doing okay with how things are set up. On the main forum page all the different forum descriptions are layed out pretty clearly.

And if your thread gets locked or moved, don't take much offense. It's happened to all of us at one time or another.

i do fine wih the process, but it could be simplified a lot more. why not have people post their problems in the category where topics similar to it are discussed, so that more people who actually know what theyre talking about can answer the questions. i've tried going through the gb and respective forums, and when i post problems in specific forums i generally get better answers. suit yourselves.... i'm just glad i'm not paying the money every year....

    1. who's paying money every year? for what?

    2. How many problems are purely hardware related, and not at all related to software?

Unfortunately, the intertwined nature of the software and hardware sides of 'hardware' problems -- drivers, kexts, and the like -- makes pure 'hardware' problems few and far between.

Where's the logic in posting a problem -- which may turn out to be software related in the end -- in a forum dedicated to hardware? (as, if you are posting about a problem on a forum, you probably aren't sure whether it's particularly hardware or software related, just that 'my _____ doesn't work')

It's logical to have a seperate help forum. It won't be changing anytime soon.
