Idea: Next iPod w/ video out port

What do you think?

Mirror display on your TV?

Have a port at the (bottom or side) of the iPod.

The port would be small perhaps the size of a 1/8 stereo jack. You would use an adaptor that converts 1/8 jack to RCA-video. That pulgs into your TV/VCR

The reslution would not be all that high tech. -The proposed graphics would be perhaps no better than the onscreen display(menu) of a CRT monitor. Something very low bit, but good enough to make out the words displayed

The dispay on your TV would look exactly like that of the iPod, except the font size would be much larger

Display color: background: LIGHT GRAY; font: BLACK

Purpose:

- Display on your entertainment system / for multi viewing

- You don't want to look at a small display

- Your iPod display is damaged

- One more thing to help sell the iPod

- Perhaps: additional information displayed about the song currently playing

This would not:

Add much cost to the iPod (make 8-25$?)(**Apple's cost)?

Taking up much space inside the iPod

Would this be worth it?

Would you use this feature?

(p.s. -yes I know Steve hates TV)

hmmm, did i get you right?

you want to use your tv for "mirroring" the iPods display?

therefore, you need a kind of "grafic card" inside the iPod and another connector - very space consuming!

what would make more sense, is the ability, to "project" content from the iPods hd, e.g., you have some .jpgs on it, or - much better - some .mpg4 and you can use any tv/beamer config?-

but, again, see first comments: space and voltage consuming?-

The above is a hand-held game (Atari)

    -small

    -Requires only 4 AA batteries

    -Displays on your TV

    I found this on RadioShack.com

    more info-

Game includes: Ten classic Atari games in one! Includes Centipede, Circus Atari, Missile Command, Pong, Asteroids, Adventure, Yar's Revenge, Real Sports Volleyball, Gravitar and Breakout! All your classic favorites.

Remember the box above holds 4 "AA" batteries

The actual size of the "grafic card" is small- and Im sure can be made even smaller

If It can be done on this hand-held game im sure Apple could pull it off

Well if this isn't a ridiculous comparison (and thread for that matter) I don't know what is.

How about instead of mirroring the iPod display, it outputs the iTunes visualizer so you get cool looking graphics but can still select songs and do playlists from your iPod. That would turn a few heads, great for parties, or for the "iPod DJs"

I have read that video recording is indeed possible on the iPod, albiet highly recommended against by Apple. Of course, I'm talking about using the iPod as a hard disc recorder. I read that it gets scorching hot and could cause the drive to fail. It cannot display video without a whole graphics system built in.

Introducing iPod Overdrive. Only six time larger than the original iPod. Estimated battery time 8 minutes.

For a long time I wish they had some kind of video output that would simulate a jukebox-type device on a TV. it would be great for parties.

Karaoke iPod: Scare the living daylights out of everyone at the party, only need a T.V.!

    Apple could ruin parties forever.
