my ibook has bad sound quality

I just realised that ALL my mp3s/streams sound lousy on my internal and extrenal speakers.



I'm quite sure that recently everything was alright.



Hmmmm, has anybody an idea what happened or has anybody the same issue ???



P.S.: 12" ibook G3/800 + airport; newest iTunes of course ;o)

    same thing if you plug headphones into it?



    there's not much i can think of that would make your songs sound worse on both the internal and external speakers. anything that would have an effect on both of those would almost have to be software related.



    you make any changes to your iTunes settings? maybe some presets?

    even with headphones especially at high frequencies the sound is distorted

    (sorry i'm not a native english speaker, so describing the problem is quite difficult)



    of course i switched OFF all effects in iTunes.

    erf, i found the problem --- a really silly one ;o)



    normally i NEVER use the equalizer, but in this case it was activated and the gain was at approx. +8db. grrrrrrrrr



    i really don't know how this could happen.



    ok one stupid problem less in this world
