From the Apple Store:

Regular - $49.00

Education - $29.00

Government - $24.50

Go figure. I know that government employees are poorly paid, but come on...

$10 an app is very cheap. Many shareware apps cost as much. Great deal.

Apparently you missed the point of the post. It's not to complain about iLife costing $49, which doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's a comment on what seems, to me anyway, a weird pricing scheme that gives significant discounts to government workers, more so than students. iLife is the example, that's all.

You would think a student makes less than a government employee. Even if the Student has a PT job he still wouldn't make as much.

Isn't the reason for pricing that way to try to get a foot in the door to government and educational institution contracts? It's not about compensating for low wages.

    Edited the thread title accordingly.

I agree with onlooker and find it very curious that government buyers get it cheaper than students. Students usually have a zero or negative budget with loans and such.

Gov price would be the price for gov purchases as well, not just gov employee purchases. You just know that if MS can undercut here, they will. What better way to ensure your judicial future than if the entire govt is reliant on your products to function? :P

I believe more students would like to buy a copy of iLife '04 then gov employees...
