iTunes library from firewire HD

Do any of you use an external hard drive to store your iTunes Library?



and if so, does it work well?



What are the drawbacks?

    i dont do that, but i do have everything backed up on an external, so if i can find some time i'll give it a shot



    edit: i dont see why there would be any problems though

    Works great on my iMac 800.

    i moved all my music off my hard drive and onto my firewire...cleared up 15 gigs of space...works fine...only downside is the start up seems to be a couple of seconds longer at first (needs to fire up the drive i guess)...after that first start up it seems just as fast as being on the HD

    That's exactly what I was concernd with . . . I guess if I only start it every few then it won't be such a big deal . ..

    careful....



    it USED to work fine for me... but for some reason 10.3.2+iTunes4.2+QT6.5 F**KED it up somehow...



    I have a post about it somewhere...
