Purchase advice: PB vs. iBook

The eternal question: to go for a PowerBook, or an iBook...

The iBook I'm looking at is the 12", at 800MHz. With Airport, Bluetooth, maxed RAM (640MB), 60GB HD and Applecare this comes to about £1200.

The alternative is an offer I've had: 15" PowerBook, 1ghz G4 PPC, 512meg ram, 60gig hdd, 2x DVDR, firewire, usb, dvi, tvout, 802.11b. With second battery and case. The screen's brand new on it. It has AppleCare on it till the end of April, before which I guess I'd have to purchase the extension... Cost: £1200 + AppleCare costs later.

Apparently, the PB's a TiBook. The price is pretty nice for it, but I'm worried about the portability - I currently have a 15" Time laptop, and that breaks my back on a regular basis.

Which would you lot reccomend? What's your experiences with the iBook and TiBook 15"? I'll be using it mainly for typing up lecture notes, but also general Photoshopping, web designing, ...

Thanks in advance.

Take the tibook. I think it's a late version of the tibook.

It will kick the ass of the ibook and have a better screen.

    Take it now 8)

For the deal your getting on the TiBook, you would be crazy to pass that up. The iBook is a good computer, but like Powerdoc said, it kicks the iBooks butt in almost every way.

If you're concerned about portability with the Ti, don't be. It's marginally heavier. I believe it's 5.3 lbs vs. 4.9 for the iBook (not sure what is in kg, but it's about a .2kg difference). I'd get the Ti. Make sure you get the AppleCare.

So, my guess is that I should go for the TiBook... Now, to assemble the money...

5.3lb = 2.4kg, BTW. Hopefully a lot lighter than my Time laptop, but as there's no scales here I can't find out exactly how much...
