Migration: GoLive 6 to Dreamweaver

I'm having some incredibly frustrating problems with GoLive 6 running under OS X 10.2.8 and am seriously considering making the migration to Dreamweaver soon. I'm sure that Dreamweaver fans will urge me to make the jump but I'd really like to hear from some users who went from GoLive to Dreamweaver to chime in here.

Edit: I just went to Macromedia's website and discovered that they do not offer professional competitive upgrades to their software. Is there any way to buy the software at a reduced price (beyond student pricing)....perhaps a "sale" or a bundle deal?

Thanks guys

have you tried GoLive 7, the one bundled in the Adobe CS Suite? It's a huge improvement over 6.

Mayhaps I'll try the version 7, although I do see quite a number of bugs being reported up on the Adobe support boards. As it is, I'm conditioned to GoLive's interface and the demo version of Dreamweaver I'm trying is a bit strange to someone who is always in Photoshop and Illustrator. I like the fact that Dreamweaver tends to created cleaner code (at least that was the big diff between them in the past).

    Just priced Flash and WOWZERS!

They're not bashful about how much they want to charge for that sucker!

i made the move a couple of years ago, and for the most part, i'm happy as can be. it does take some time to get with how dreamweaver does things, but it will make sense eventually.

I like the way that GoLive has a really sweet palette for making style sheets, very intuitive..... and I like that you can switch between the list of selectors and the source code of the CSS file. So far I haven't found as nice a palette in Dreamweaver....

I see that the preview window in Dreamweaver does a better job of representing floating boxes referenced via .css files. GoLive 6.x doesn't seem to have this capability. Maybe the newer version does.

    Let's see....what else.....

GoLive's palettes are (naturally) more familiar. I really like the way you can tack them to the edges of the screen and have them pop out when you need them. That's a great solution when you're not working on a Cinema Display. Dreamweaver's palettes all jam up together....but hey, let me go see if they're smarter than I give them credit.....well, they can be arrranged todgether but they don't suck up to the edges of the screen....advantage Adobe.

Of course, Dreamweaver writes cleaner code. That's the way it's been for awhile now anyway.

I just wish they had sales from time to time.
