I have contacted these people about buying my iMac. They have given me a good price and I am considering going through w/ the deal. Has anyone dealt with these peps before? They are located in Atl, GA...pscates isn't this your neck of the woods?

It's my neck of the woods but I haven't actually dealt with them. These guys used to be referenced monthly by MacUser magazine, up in the front section, with a "going rate" for machines (I think they had a different company name in the 90's). I believe that they would act as middlemen in sales between users...an escrow arrangement. One of the partners in a computer consultancy firm here in ATL who is (naturally) a dual system user once referred me to them as a potential resource so I assume that they are probably still a trustworthy company...but I have no personal experience with them.

Certainly some of the older Mac users will recall the listing in the front of MacUser....guys? Anybody?

So, trailmaster308- did you go through with your purchase with Mac of All Trades? How has your experience been?

I am contemplating an iBook purchase. Please respond ASAP if you are around. Thanks!

macofalltrades is good. The prices are a little higher than eBay, but you know what your getting. You can call them up if you'd like. It's run by two guys as a part time thing. I've bought from them before.

They were very quick to respond. However, in the end I didn't feel very comfortable with the deal. No particular reason, just something in my gut I guess. Good luck w/ your purchase.

This means, you didn't go through with the purchase with them?

This has been my shopping path so far:

?I first saw an alluring price in a MacMall catalog.

?Then I ended up at Small Dog where I could get a slightly faster CPU, a step larger HD, and a combi-drive instead of just a CDROM drive for about $150 more.

?Then I ended up at Mac of All Trades where I could get the original MacMall item, except with 2x RAM and the combi-drive, but the same price. So that seems like the best deal so far.

Correct, I did not go through with the deal. However, I contacted them about buying my FP iMac. I wasn't purchasing one of their machines.

I bought a B&W G3/350 from MacOfAllTrades. I am in Atlanta so it went ground shipping. Everything was well packaged and there was a professional invoice. However, the hockey puck Apple mouse I got was broken. One of the three wheels in it didn't work, so I just bought a new two button mouse. But I would definitely buy from them again. I think they have a good business model of charging a little bit more than eBay for people who don't want the hassle of trusting someone on eBay.

I am wondering if my iBook will still come with all the original packing, warranties, and software that you would get if it was bought at any other regular vendor?
