Linux Forum?

Hi everyone,

I just posted a question regarding the KDE port to the Macintosh in "General Discussion". While doing that I was wondering whether there might be enough interest here to open up a "Linux on Mac" forum @AI?This is "AppleInsider" and not "MacOS X insider", after all...

What do you say?

Greetings,

durandal

We do not create forums in anticipation of demand. We create them in response to actual demand. Right now, there are hardly any threads started about Linux on Macintosh, so there's no reason to segregate the topic.

We do keep an eye on the forums, and if the situation changes we'll react.

Besides I am like the only one here who is a Linux nut... correct me if I am wrong.

God I would just spam that forum like an email account used to sign up to porn sites.

And that is exactly why AI isn't going to have a Linux forum anytime soon.

    Doesn't Linux suck ass?

I mean, uh, we do not create forums in anticipation of demand. We create them in response to actual demand.

Depends how you look at it... from one angle it is not user friendly... so it does "suck ass" but only to people who are not willing, slash find it hard, to learn. (the same folk who like the "it just works" idea)

On the other hand I could list MANY reasons why it does not suck... but then I would sound like a troll.

It boils down to...: when you know what your doing... Linux can be everything you have ever dreamed of in an OS... minus the learning curve.

When I buy a new Mac... OSX will not be alone...

I for one, would welcome a linux forum.

Lots of AI members use Linux on their macs or other boxes within groping distance. Im intersted in Linux software on Linux and on OSX X11 + Fink.

Whether Linux sucks or not is a silly reason to not make a forum.. after all we do have *I know, I know, dont talk about fight club*

Now you say, why dont I go hang out at a Linux forum or something... well for good reason, Ive been lurking here for the last two years or so and feel some degree of trust toward the members of AI. This was in fact brought up in the "rating posts" thread in Suggestions.

So, again, I would appreciate a Linux forum, if only to discuss Linux with *people* whom I can *trust* or at the very least *know*.

    Cheers

Maybe there should be a stick in suggestions on "No Suggestions for New Forums"

Maybe we should put a stick in the 5x smokey smiley. It's done
