These Russian Heros are to be commended for the extra effort they went to to preserve something truly worth the effort.

God Bless these Men.

Last time I went to Russia (Saratov) I had couple of bottles of russian beer. It's not that bad, I had grade 3 and 4 beers and apparently they go up to 15. My girlfriend tells me that the higher the number, higher the strength. Offlicences (liquor stores) appear to offer 95% different kinds of vodka the other 5% split between wine and beer. Union of Russian Brewers

The guys are heroes! must have been grade 15 beer

Damn, I was born in Saratov. The world is so small for two of us, you know... Haven't been there for ages, though.

Hmmm... I can't agree with you on its quality in general. Personally, I think Russian beer sucks, especially after British and Czech sorts.

Moreover, frozen beer is no longer beer. Try freezing it in your fridge (of course, never freeze a glass bottle).

It's probably debateable whether or not Russian beer freezes.

They ARE heroes though, bless those lads.

    Privyet Costique!

It truly is a small world! The first time I ever went to Russia a long long time ago when I was a kid, the first Russian person I tried talking to was born in north London, really close to where I live! I was shocked!

I look forward to my next visit to Saratov.

I agree that uk but especially Czech beers are best, but maybe I'm not the best judge as I have no sense of smell which means my sense of taste isn't too great either!

Don't worry, Czech beers smell as good as they taste. Best beer I've ever had.

Czech pilsners and lagers are second to *none*, but I still prefer a nice hoppy ale or smooth stout.
