Broken Quicktime 'icon'

Happy New Year!

At a number of websites I go to(with Safari) I get a wierd icon consisting of the Quicktime symbol inside a representation of (what I assume is) movie film, with a corner torn out. What does this mean? I downloaded Flash Player 7. Does it need to go to a specific place?

Thanks

Steve

It sounds like some part of your QuickTime framework has broken.

I would suggest downloading a fresh copy of QuickTime from Apple.

Thanks, Brad. I tried that but it didn't help.

I get this problem too every once in a while... what OS and version of QT are you running... are you sure you have all of the components installed?

    Hi Paul

I have OS 10.3.2 and QT 6.5, which I just reinstalled tonight.

Could you post some links to specific web site where this is a problem?

http://www.masterandcommanderthefarsideoftheworld.com/ (click on "English" ; or control-click "Show The Trailer", then choose 'Open it new tab'. A QT icon will appear, then change to the broken icon.

This doesn't happen with IE, by the way.

it's gotta be something with the site side, because i can't even get anything more than an empty "#" link. it is possible they are loading a new trailer, or something got damaged, or whatever....

I just tried the last link with IE and it came out fine, so I should think things are OK at the site.

    Appreciate it, tho, rok.

    Hey gals and guys,

The Safari 1.2 update has solved the problem. Where I was getting the broken icons there are now excellent multimedia content, at least at the Master and Commander and Macromedia sites. The M&C site is very good. Check it out.
