here's th scenario- muso/manager with Yikes G4 wants to buy Ibook for office stuff/on th road email etc. no interest in OS quirks, very impatient with load times etc, no experience with OSX. Impatience has led to G4 being kicked around (literally!). It survived untroubled (bitta plastic fell off)- proven tuffness big plus for Apple in my opinion...

anyway outrageous New Zealand prices are $3,825.00 (500mhz), $4,612.50 (600mhz,12.1"), both 128mg ram, $5,512.50 (600mhz,14.1",256mg ram). $NZ1700 difference-quite a bit, before adding any ram. Is th bigger screen a great improvement? Enuff to influence happy outcome? How much Ram might be advisable to avoid th iBook getting th biff cos of slowness esp in unfamiliar OSX? As adviser my credibility is on th line- it's not my money & I don't wanna waste others, if th littlest will do for these relatively light demands then that's best- plenty of DJ mates are using older G3 Powerbooks so iBook may be expected to do a bit more than just accounting & email. My concern is partly that th iBook is last G3 holdout but th money has to be spent before the end of th month so waiting is not an option. I'll get to use it lots & i'm graphically inclined so my bias is obvious & i could bluff for th biggest, but i wanna hear others' opinions so i can make the best decision for someone i want to give th best advice to. Ta in advance.
