Next PowerBook?
A friend of mine wants to buy a Powerbook but I said him that the actuel Powerbook has approximatively 6 months and that it's the timeframe for a new update.
Is there a chance to see an update? I read that Motorola has still difficulties to exceed the frequencies of the actuel Powerbook chip, the G4.
I think that Apple will have a transition of their entire line of computer to the G5 for the end of this summer(the ibook could be for fall) and the G6 for the desktop.
IBM says that the G5 at 2GHz, for the 90nm process, consumes 25W. What about a low voltage of this chip? In 130 nm process they said that they had a low voltage chip at 1,2 GHz that consumed under 20W. If they could have such a chip that would run at 1,4-1,6GHz at under 20 W with its energysaver technology in the newer chip it could come out in february. Is my statements right? Is there any specs of such a chip?
Do you think that Apple will come with an update of the Powerbook before end february?
