Cell phone battery problem...

I realize this isnt mac related but I was hoping someone could help.

I have a motorola cell phone, about two years old and I think one of the batteries is about to go.

The phone uses Lithium rechargable batteries and I have two, they are relativley thin but one of them has recently started to bulge a little, it feels like its inflated slightly from the inside... but it still works and holds a charge. The other one is fine.

What I want to know is, is it in danger of blowing up or starting a fire, any help would be appreciated.

Blowing up...low chance, starting a fire, even lower chance. Leaking, high chance. I would toss the bulging battery and hold onto the other one. If you really need two batteries, just go out and grab another one, but trash the one with the bulge in it.

Wait...don't just throw it away! Find a certified battery recycling center and give it to them!

Thank-you. Is there some kind of test I can do to check if its leaking currently, some kind of litmus test or something ? Besides holding it underwater and watching for bubbles.. which might work !?
