I'm looking to get a older version of adobe after effects(4.1) It runs native on 8.6 but does anyone have after effects that runs off os.x or classic? or any suggestions. The newer versions of after effects are pretty spendy and 4.1 does the job i'm looking for.

I'm sure 4.1 runs within Classic just fine; I believe 5.5 was the first OS X-native version of After Effects.

Actually v4.1 is not even supported under Classic according to Adobe. v5.0 on the other hand is.

Still, it's better to run the X native AE which is v5.5 or later.

But while it may not be officially supported by its maker, that doesn't necessarily mean it won't work. Adobe certainly doesn't want to encourage its users to use an aging but adequate product if it doesn't have to. While it's true that I have never opened v.4.1 in Classic, I don't see any reason why it isn't technically feasible.

On a side note, I agree with Leonis: using a native version is FAR better than eking by in Classic. Your experience is likely to be more stable and less bug-ridden.
