Warcraft III Frozen Throne problem

Whenever I play a multiplayer (TCP/IP) game of Warcraft III (Frozen Throne) on my 1GHz eMac the game starts skipping every other frame and then finnaly slows so far down that I can't continue play. I have 768MB of RAM and whatever video card came with the computer (ATi 7500?). I also noticed that some other people playing the same game as me had slower machines than me but did not experiance the same problem. What could be the problem?
