Anyhow, 2.0 is a FANTASTIC update. The speed increases over 1.0.x are tremendous. There are many new features as well as an updated interface that conforms a little bit closer to Apple's HIG.
Well, Andrew posted on the Ambrosia board that it was supposed to be out Friday but ended up delaying it till today, due to a store problem or something.
I'm trying to play with it now, not sure what to make of it yet. (running it on my 1 GHz 12" PB) I tried recording the latest iPod ad at 240x180... it ran horribly (read: audio stutters, couldn't even do 8 fps capture) when my color depth was set to thousands in System Preferences, but now that I switched it to millions, it seems to be recording perfectly (30 fps w/audio)
Now I'm trying to record it at 480x360... it seems like 15 fps appears to push the limits of what it can do, though that would be fine.
This does appear to be orders of magnitude better than Snaps Pro X though
Please post how it works on your system and how many fps you can record at with it being smooth
Oh yeah, one other thing... since I had installed Snaps Pro X a couple weeks ago, it seems like Snaps Pro X 2.0 thinks I've used this software for 28 days (so I only have 2 days to evaluate)... any clue on how to get a longer period (Moki?)
Edit: I'm impressed. I don't think I'll need much longer to evaluate this... this is extremely usable on my 12" PB from what I've seen so far. Not the slightest clue why recording in thousands of colors wasn't good, but no problems if I can record in millions of colors reasonably smooth. I think Ambrosia SW will be getting $69 from me shortly

We've found that some video cards, especially those in portable Macs, don't have video drivers that are optimized well for Thousands, which explains what you're seeing.
Glad you're finding it useful. You can really record some cool stuff with it.

It's really a must-have update.
*steps off soapbox*

I meant to grab it, but misclicked and ended up buying Snapz Pro for OS 9.
I guess this is a good time to bump up to a version that I can actually use.

Now that's an impressive video!! What machine did you record it on?
BTW, you should see Snapz Pro X 2.0 on a dual processor machine... woah man does it fly.
