iBook video memory--beyond 8 megs?

hi. maybe some of you know me by now (yeah right... how self-absorbed am i) but in the likely event you don't, i'm the guy with an ibook 600/256/20/dvd.

anyway, i keep looking at games that i may install in this thing in the future, and i've noticed that many of them require more than 8 megs of video ram. now, i heard or read somewhere *faintly* that the ibook has the ability to "steal" some ram from the main memory to use as video ram in addition to its 8 megs. is this true? or am i dreaming?

and even if it's true or not, should i get those games that may need more than 8 megs?

i've been wondering about this for quite some time now.

It's called AGP. The bus allows the graphics card to access main memory directly. It's better than nothing, but not as fast as actual VRAM on chip/video subsystem. You stuck with 8MB, but don't worry about it, you can't run higher res or spanned displays so it won't be an issue. Should be fine for most everything but the very latest 3-D shooters.
