honestly I don't really care, but a couple other forums I frequent have moved up to 3.0 and there are a couple of nice features, but also there are a lot of UI issues that I don't really like.

If AI stays more or less the same, but with these new features, that'd be pretty nice.

    Psh, Don't bother.

It takes way too much man power to move a site around. And when it's working why break it?

Unless of course, you really do want to do it, Brad.

I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth, but I believe that the issue of money will come up here. If I recall correctly, AI doesn't have the funds to do anything like that, so we're stickin' with the current version. It works just fine doesn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong.

You obviously weren't here the last time we tried to upgrade the software that powered the forums. A simple transition to vBulletin from UBB took approximately, correct me if I'm wrong Brad, six months. Wasn't our fault, we had the cat in the bag in a few weeks. Problem is we don't have access to the webserver. At all. Therefore, it takes an awful lot of energy on our parts to get the people that do to actually make it happen.

    I doubt we'll be upgrading.

    Nothing.

    We're not upgrading.

Server access isn't quite as bad as Jack states, but it's still not very good.

But, VB 3 sucks major donkey cock.

I was here in the UBB days, and I remember AI being down for a very long time, and then when I finally came back it was vBulletin, which was neat.

Would it really be that difficult? I mean, switching from UBB to vB is a big switch, totally new software...etc.

but then again , 3.0 has so many updates it might as well be new software.

ack, eitherway, this slow typing thing is really getting on my nerves!

(brad, did you read my suggestion in the safari v1.2 thread about putting all the smilies(or just the animated ones) in a link, so that safari wouldn't be constantly rendering them)

just saw jonathan's post, guess that settles it

I think Brad would beg to differ.

We moved from UBB to vBulletin because UBB sucked enough to make the trouble worthwhile.

The version the boards are currently running works fine, so there's no reason to change it.

I wouldn't say version 3.0, as Jonathan so poetically put it (Ladies, he's still single), sucks donkey balls. There is, however, no compelling reason to upgrade, as James said.

Unless you guys can point out a specific feature the upgrade brings that would make the forums a better place for mankind, we'll probably sit this one out.

Yeah, after using these new v3.0 forums more, I'm appreciating AI even more.

It's simple, effective and not broken.

except for this damn slow typing thing! grr.(I know it's a safari problem)

Why did you even say 3.0 is out?

At last check, it's still in RC mode.
