Beige G3 will not power up..

Please help.

A beige G3, new to my lab, does not boot up. (As best as I can hear, the machine takes the signal from the keyboard and, for a brief second, powers up. 3-4 seconds later, it powers back down. Using the front power-on button, it does the same thing. Neither way I try to power on the machine do I hear the familiar Mac Chime.

I took the time to open the Beige and check to make sure all possible connections were fully seated. (Everything checked out) I also took the time to reset the CUDA switch a few times. (No joy)

Any other ideas? As always, any thoughts or suggestions is appreciated.

Best,

J.d.

My guess is you have a dead logic board. It happened to a 6400 I had a few years back. It would give me the chime, but the display would never come on. I checked the graphics card, and the display but those were fine. I took it to a repair shop to get it checked out and it turned out the be the logic board. You might want to try booting from a CD (if you can get the drive open) to make sure it's not a HD issue. If that doesn't work, it's probably your logic board.
