Here's what you do.
1.) Go to /private/tmp/501/TemporaryItems/
At the finder level:
a.) Look at the menu bar
b.) From the "Go" menu, choose "Go to folder"
c.) Enter "/private/tmp/501/TemporaryItems/" (without the quotes)
2.) Change the view to list mode, sort by "Date Modified" and in descending order (latest file at the top).
3.) Launch MSN Messenger, click the "mail" button... you need to be fast here... two files will be created, one is called "IE Control Cache.lck" and the other will be called "msmsgrtempfffbb600.html" (or something that looks VERY close to that). The MOMENT you see the html file created, DRAG it out of the Temporary Items folder to your desktop.
4.) Take a deep breath, you're almost there.
5.) Click on the file's icon once such that its selected, hit "Command I" to Get Info (or go to "File" from the Menu bar and choose "Get Info")
6.) Toggle down the "Open With" carrot, and from the pull down, choose the application you want MSN Messenger to check your Hotmail mail with (I like Safari, but you can choose whatever you want)
7.) Click "Change All..."
8.) Acknowledge the "Change All..." request, close the Get Info window, delete the html file, close all open windows... YOU ARE DONE!
Now.. go back to MSN.. click the "Mail" icon and your browser of choice will automatically log into hotmail and get your latest spam email for you.
Hope that helps anyone having the same problem, such and annoying bug.

yeah do you think uninstalling indesign may reset it i mean i dont even use indesign
Someone posted this on the adobe forums:
"Here's how to fix it.
If someone can think of an easier way to do this then by all means, chime
in.
On my machine messenger puts a file in /private/tmp/501/TemporaryItems
The file is named msmsgrtemp 6eff3258.html the second part (6eff3258)
changes every time you click on the mail link in messenger.
You've got to have this folder open and be ready to get info on this file
when it appears, because it auto deletes pretty quickly.
As indesign is trying to open the file (start with indesign closed, to give
you a little more time) if the file doesn't appear on it's own click on
another file in the folder to make the finder refresh. Then get info on the
messenger created file.
In the get info dialog change the file to open in internet explorer and then
click "change all".. now try clicking the mail button in messenger again and
it should work. Now you can go back and follow the same steps in order to
change the preferred application back to safari.
I haven't restarted yet, but for now it's opening correctly in safari.
If the file isn't in that location, you'll need to archive indesign so that
it will go back to opening in safari anyway, and then cmd+click on the file
name in safari's title bar to determine the location.
After this you can follow the above steps and then un-archive indesign."
The InDesign CS activation is downloadable from the Extensis website.
I've tried it and it works in 10.3.
