Phone/Fax/Phlink/DSL
I am having some problems here and I am not sure if they are to be expected or where to put the blame.
Problem 1: Panther is supposed to be able to answer faxes, and is supposed to be smart enough to tell the difference between fax and voice right? (so that it doesn't answer the phone when it is a person). Well, for me, it seems to answer the phone even when it is voice (which is quite annoying).
Problem 2: I bought Ovolab's Phlink. It is supposed to turn your mac into an answering machine. However, it doesn't seem to realize when the caller has hung up. It holds the line until the maximum length for a message (something you can set). There is also a setting for how long a silent period to hang up after, but adjusting that doesn't seem to make a difference.
These two problems seem to be independent (i.e., I haven't tried using both Phlink and having Panther set to answer faxes). I have DSL. I don't know if that can cause problems. Any ideas?
