Screen Resolution

ok, i have a darwin box (that's darwin, not mac os x; yes yes we dont need a debate on darwin v osx), on an old b&w g3/350. for the life of me, i can't change the screen resolution. any one know how? the kicker is XDarwin (the x11 server) doesn't use a config file like any other x11 server, so i can't set it there. i think it just finds out what the console is at, and uses that. it does have a size flag, which claims to take width and height, but it doesn't seem to work (besides, i'd like to chg the console's res too). the sys pref has to edit a file somewhere, which i presume would be a similar file in darwin. and the most annoying part of the problem is, apple has a howto for darwin/x86 describing what to do, but none (that i can find) for ppc. google was no help. i was hoping maybe someone knows a terminal trick, which would likely work on my cocoa-less OS. anyone?
