ftp server for just me and my friend

i want to be able to use my current computer as an ftp server for just my friend. we are transferring 1.5-2GB files (movies) that we are working on, and all we have been able to come u pwith is file sharing them, which is really slow. we could use aim, but they slow down the transfers quite a bit, so i'm just wondering how i would go about doing this.

    tried that brad, but it didn't work

    i sent my friend the ip #, and he got the spinning beach ball of death for like 10 minutes, and then it said an error occurred, i think it was error -48

    Firewalls? Routers? Those could break the connection if not configured to allow FTP ports.



    On a side note, you should use a real FTP client, not the Finder, to connect to each other. The Finder is still an awful FTP client these days. It feels like it was tacked on just as a bullet in a feature list.

    thx brad, i bought transmit, it looks pretty good, i'll keep you posted on how well it works for me. thx again.
