I'm trying to figure out if I can move a server on my network (currently running Windows Server2000) onto an XServe. The sofware supports AIX 4.3.3/5L 64 Bit.
It supports a swag of 3rd parts drives/peripherals so I would hedge a bet that it could support some of the other internals but the kernal won't run on the 970 that the Mac uses (currently).
We have 7 XServes (I even have a test one for myself) and I had yellow dog linux running on mine for a while.
I would love to put either solaris (perhaps 10) or aix on them.
Thanks Dobby. I'm trying to do a long range plan (2 year) to change this server over to something accessible to the rest of my Mac network, for all of the obvious maintenance and management reasons.

AIX will only run on specific IBM chips.
