Cube and CD drives

Hey all,



The DVD drive is dying in my cube. Or, at least, the eject mechanism is. So, instead of getting the DVD drive fixed (no AppleCare), I want to get an internal CD-RW drive. Can someone give me some suggestions on the fastest slot-loding drives available for this beast? Has anyone else tried switching the drive, or is this strictly something an authorized repair service should attempt? Thanks in advance for the info.

    owc usually has Apple OEM drives for sale.

    they don't appear to have any now unfortunately. perhaps you should try e-mailing them. they are really great
