Powerbook On Overnight

Is it bad to leave my Powerbook on overnight? Not in sleep mode? I have settings set to turn screen off and to put H.D. to sleep when possible, but it's not in actual sleep mode because instant messanger stays on and stuff? What do you guys think?

    Not really bad for it, it's good that your sleeping the display and HD though. The only problem is that you are still drawing a lot of power. Why do you need to leave AIM on all the time? I never quite understood that. Also, you may experience some wear and tear on your machine as a result of the heat that is produced when your machine isn't in sleep. So it isn't particularly bad, but not good either. Just sleep it, it'll keep it cleaner too.

    I do the same thing as you.



    I leave AIM up all night because I get messages at night sometimes. Not everyone is asleep, some stay up late and others don't live in the same time zone.

    Plus, OSX runs maintanance scripts at night keep itself operating smoothly. So if you don't use an app like Cocktail to run them, leaving your PB running at night is o.k.
