Mail: Delete Messages on Server but Save in Mail Inbox?
I'm kinda in a rush, gotta go to the gym and a lecture in a miniute. So my problem is that I have exceeded my mailbox limit on my University Email Server. I have all my mail sync with Mail on my Mac (including Hotmail, using the httpmail bundle). When I delete a message on my server through the Outlook web interface and then click "Get Mail" in Mail, the deleted message is removed from my Mail Inbox. But I have "Keep copies of all messages and attachments for offline viewing" checked in Prefs>Advanced!!! I want my Inbox to remain unchanged!
How do I delete the Messages on my school Server, but keep all the old ones saved in my Inbox (so that when I click "Get Mail", only new messages are added to Mail -- and the mailboxes are not synchronised resulting in all the old ones being deleted). I think my school Incoming Mail Server is Exchange, and the Outgoing Server is SMTP (whatever all that means). And Mail 1.3.3 (v612) and 10.3.2.
I hope you can understand what I mean. Thanks for your help.

Is that what you are asking or am I missing something?

There is an option to delete mail from the server immediatedly upon delivery to the mail client. If this is turned on, your email gets transferred to your Inbox everytime you use 'get mail' and your server mailbox stays empty.

Where is this option? I know what you mean but where is this option?
[Edit] I thought I was going mad... I can see the "Delete Downloaded Messages" option for collecting Hotmail through Mail (Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Advanced), but not for collecting University mail through Mail. There is no similar button for my University Mail account! What's up with that?
So what options do I have now? If I manually delete all the emails on my University server, next time I click on "Get Mail", Mail will see that there are no emails in my University mail inbox and so clear out my Mail inbox.
Again, hope you understand me...
Thanks for your help

Microsoft exchange doesn't allow you to do that from my experience. The same problem persists in Outlook. The only way to circumvent that is to use your own personal folder 'on my mac' or some other location and move messages from the inbox. The inbox is always synched with the server.
Ah bitch... OK. That's what I had done anyway -- I created a folder named "Archive" On My Mac and moved all the emails from my Inbox into that. So there's no other way, huh. Goddamn that's annoying. :grumble
Thanks for your help.
