Best way to connect old printer to iMac

I'm sure many have encountered this problem before.

I have an old HP LaserJet 4MP with parallel and Localtalk ports.

I have a new iMac.

Is it better to buy a used HP JetDirect device and connect the printer via ethernet or go the PowerPrint Parallel to USB adapter route.

The concern I have with the PowerPrint route is that it's software driven which may not be compatible with all programs and OSX.

thanks

Use the print server, it is the only way to connect printers properly.

I tried using an old stylewriter with the old ADB (or was it localtalk?) ports with an iMac several years ago. I got a USB -> ADB converter, but it was quite buggy (it would freeze the computer everytime I would print) and I just ended up getting a USB printer.

I don't know if converters are better, or it was just a freak thing, but I have stayed away from converters since then.
