The absolute cheapest prive I've seen for a retail dual 2 GHz G5 is US$2699 from the Apple (edu/gov) store. You *might* be able to find a refurb unit or for a couple hundred dollars cheaper than that, but you'd have to be very lucky.
Remember: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
All of those "buy information on how to get item X really cheap" auctions are scams, plain and simple. There are lots of them out there to cover all of those suckers born every minute.
Basically, the guy works on the basis of enough people will pay $3-5 "Just to see" and he himself will eventually have enough to buy a mac.
His information probably consists of the following...
Put an advert on eBay selling this information for $3-5. Eventually enough people will cave in to curiosity and pay you the $5. Then you can go and buy a Mac.
Possibly with some clause like...
For every $5 you get from a direct sale, you must send me $1, and for every subsequent 5 x $1 you get from people further down the tree, also send me $1
The losers are the people who don't have the time or patience to get enough "mugs" to buy the info. Hopefully, everyone will eventually become aware of these "products/scams" and they will die out.

Yup. A scam in a scam is a scam.
It was for info on how to get stuff for free...
The info worked! No really. It worked, however it was an illegal practice and I went under investigation for it. The info pointed me to a site where electronic products are listed from different companies, this site was not accessible by the public but the info told me how to get there. What you had to do is pose as someone powerful in your own new company and ask other companies via email for a sample product. The companies send the product (most were in retail packages but some were brown boxes) hoping that you and your company would like it and decide to but a few thousand units.
This site had the contact info for high-up people in various major companies... however apple was not one of them. (Sony was! *pets cd-player*)
Anyway... as this info flew around the web (thanks to ebay) more and more people started flooding this site... this caused an investigation resulting in the arrest of many people who were getting tons of free stuff and reselling it on ebay. Then the site itself stopped working for unverified people. Even I, was caught, but I guess because I live in Canada (not Hong-Kong where the site was based out of) and that I agreed to help in any way I could (I gave the personal info of the person I bought the info from) they never took action to charge me...
It was fun while it lasted, got me a few things, and is a great conversation piece. My old friend Sam could never get over the fact that I was under international investigation at such a young age.
