Good stuff. You can bet all Pixar's stuff will be better from now on.
Seriously though, that's great news for Apple and for Pixar. Now all they need to do is build a G5 xServe based supercomputer for big renders.

Plus Industrial Light & Magic is currently switching from their own proprietary compositing software to G5's loaded with Shake!

Of course you can use it. You'll need a 1+ GHz processor to play back any Pixlet-encoded HD-size video, though. Simply export your QuickTime video of choice using the "Apple Pixlet Video" codec.
