Apple Clothes?

Stumbled across a SOFTswitch article today, and went to visit their site.

This picture inspired this thread:

Apple has previously worked with Burton, to create a jacket which interfaces to the iPod.

And today brings news of Apple suing a clothing company.

So could Apple Clothes be in the works? Are clothes hardware or software?

I'm going to route this to General Discussion, which is the "everything else" forum.

I hope Apple realizes that by arguing that their trademark spans markets, they're strengthening Apple Corps' case against them. It's hard to see a flaw in the Chinese court's reasoning, from here. Their trademark law looks from that article to be very much in line with ours.

So if they do offer Apple clothing, I guess it won't be offered there.

speaking of clothing and not meaning to advertise, but has anyone gotten one of these shirts yet?

think AAPL will sue if they knew?

The apple logo is registered internationally, I'm pretty sure. trademarks only apply to industry space, but registered trademarks aren't industry specific. If China had a proper court system, this would be quick. But it looks like Apple will have to **** 'em up the old fashioned way.

thing is, can apple just say "any abstract 2d single-color representation of our logo is trademark infringement"? i mean, you can't do THAT much to it and still have it look like, you know, an apple. i think they did a decent job of giving it a more classic look, with the "leaf" being a classic look and kinda looking like a thread (or needle eye) which would be in-line with a clothing line.

i dunno. i usually support apple in a lot of things, but i think apple's barking up the wrong tree here.
