Pricing: Europe vs. USA
The price difference between USA and Europe is insane (exchange rate of march 25th 2004 (100£=180$)).
Example 1: Powerbook 15" (Superdrive)
USA: 2.599$
UK: 1.999£ = 3.606$
Net diff: 3.606-2.599= 1.007$
Example 2: Ibook 12"
USA: 1.099$
UK: 849£ = 1.531$
Net diff: 1.531-1.099= 432$
Example 3: Powermac Dual 2GHz
USA: 2.999$
UK: 2.299£ = 4.147$
Net diff: 4.147-2.999= 1.148$
I know this isn't Apple's fault, but due to crazy Governmental decisions about taxes and tariffs
I know where I'll be going for my next purchase...

This is something that has been much discussed, here and elsewhere. Of course VAT is not Apple's fault, but look at this example:
US: Powerbook 15" Superdrive, $2599.
Belgium: Powerbook 15" Superdrive, Euro 2499 + 21% VAT = Euro 3023.78.
Today, April 1, the currency equivalence is Euro 1 = $1.232. So, we have Euro 2499 = $3078.768. That is, $479.768 more without applying yet VAT! What is this difference anyway ?
On the other hand, the G5+display promo in Europe is Euro 400 = $492.8. In this case Apple remember well the currency equivalence .

who wants to give this a go (to the uk) first!
