icebook modem

i have just switched to the icebook 600 about a month ago [previously used compaq presario]. i got this recurring problem of the modem got disconnected automatically. the error message is: you are disconnected because the server/other party is not responding.

never got this with compaq though, so i believe nothing wrong with the phone line or the pacific.net [still keep my compaq and use it now and then].

does anyone experience this too? or is it the internal modem, maybe i got a lemon?

[for browing i use ms explorer and opera, i use the opera more than explorer].

appreciate any help. tq.

    I ge the exact same problem on my iMac here in the UK. I blame ISPs personally, for some reasons I think the ISP servers don't connect Macs so well or something, don't know. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />



    It normally takes me a few times to connect, but I then am fine, and I rarely get suddenly connected after being on for a bit. Means I can spent hours wasting time in here when I should be studying - like now.



    Anyway, welcome to the Mac community, nice choice!
