windows hidden on right hand side of monitor...WHY???

I have the following:

G4 667

OSX.3

20" cinema display

I love it....except...

I sometime find that windows get hidden about a inch to the right of the right hand side of the screen. I know this because when you minimise the offending window using genie effects it comes screaming in from somewhere off to the right hand side.

Also I sometimes lose my pointer in this virtual world off to the right.

Can anyone advise???

Thanks

Do you have a graphics card that supports multiple displays? If so, make sure you don't have spanning on. That could be it. Other than that, I don't really know what else it could be.

Ya, I would think it could likely be the spanning thing as well. Just check the display prefs.... What does Expose do when this happens btw?

I think you have the answer.

But.... when I select mirror instead of span in the monitor dialogue box it reduces my colours to 256 and my screen size.

thanks for your help, at least i know whats happening.

Seems spanning is the problem. (Have to get another monitor to solve that one!!!!)

Exposé works as expected. (how does Exposé work with spanning??? do both monitors react??)

Both monitors do react. (So a window on the second screen would be "Exposéd" on the 2nd monitor. If it had gone back to the first we would know it is not a spanning issue. But it looks like you nailed it.
