my old 6500 is acting up. it starts up fine, the MacOs 8.6 screen appears then all of a sudden the screen goes black, (maybe once the extensions start loading up but i'm not sure). it was working fine but i recently had to disconnect the computer etc, because we had the carpet cleaned in the computer room

any ideas?

Might be the monitors and sound extension, but it sounds a bit like the logic board failure that I had in my 6400 a few years ago. Does the screen tint different colors before going black? Or does it just go black? You might want to take a look at that logic board, but first try re loading that monitors and sound extension.
