This story cracks me up. Baskically they finally acknowledge that most people never upgrade ther computers and all the expandability is a waste for most people.
So now computer malers are making smaller more "iMac" like computers...
Hopefully this trend will help the iMav eMac as people are finally educated to the fact they will never upgrade their graphics cards etc...

Went around and around with a co-worker once about this. I was telling him that when the time rolled around to update our Macs, we should just get a couple of eMacs (to replace some 4-year-old first-generation G4 towers...Sawtooth, right?). Save some money, reclaim some deskspace, have a cool, tight-looking little AIO that's MORE than adequate for our print-publishing demands, etc.
He goes on about "no, we need towers...they're more powerful and professional and expandable...".
He hasn't expanded ONE DAMN THING...same RAM, same hard-drive, same graphics card. He's not the type to do that stuff anyway.
Never mind that a current $799 eMac would MOP THE FLOOR with the current G4, in every way, in particular graphics and OS X-friendliness. Nope...gotta have those towers.
Sigh...
I think a HUGE number of people are like that. They buy into all the outside, surface and Spec Whore shit because a) they get talked into it or b) they think that's what they really, really need or c) sadly, it's the desktop equivalent of a red sportscar.
I truly believe a good 85% - give or take - are more than served by the capabilities and *gasp* lack-of-expansion represented by the iMac and eMac. Not everyone, but A LOT (no need to post here saying you do either, I don't care...I said 85%, give or take).

The guy's clearly holding you back. I'd talk to senior management if I were you. And if you are senior management, well, you know what has to be done...
Don't get me started...

It appears that the low end iMac still only has 128MB RAM. At least it's the only current Mac with 128MB default.
The low end eMac has only 128 MB of RAM. Most of the rest have 256 MB, except for the high-end PowerMacs and PowerBooks which have 512 MB.
