Scratched PowerBook

I recently put a really nice scratch on my 12" PowerBook, and in another thread I read that if I strip away the top anodized layer of the aluminum, I expose the true aluminum material underneath, which corrodes very easily. My question is will that layer of aluminum that I may have inadvertently exposed (due to the scratching) corrode and spread, further damaging the aluminum case?

I'm hardly a metallurgist, but I believe that aluminum is naturally very resistant to corrosion. I vaguely remember a chemistry teacher saying that exposed pure aluminum quickly forms a thin layer of aluminum oxide which effectively seals the metal from further corrosion. The presense of the oxide is barely visible.

I looked for the thread where this was discussed before and couldn't find it, this is the closest I became, so here goes:

My powerbook 12" aluminum is getting black specs where my hands rest while typing.

Was there any solution found before? Will Apple fix this?

Either a link or a reply will be greatly appreciated.

That's dirt. Apple won't clean the Poewrbook for you, you have to do it yourself!

In this thread some guy got little black hole corrosion in his aluminum from his hand-sweat, did his own research and found his own solution. A phenomenon new poster who started by describing the problem as "peeling paint".
